Two Types of Divorces in Nevada

Updated: Mar 20, 2019

In Nevada, married couples can get #divorced two ways, contested and uncontested. Contested means the parties are not in agreement on some or all issues and need a judge to decide. Uncontested means that both parties agree on everything and simple want the judge to #divorce them. Uncontested divorces can be obtained a few ways, including by #jointpetition of both parties, a complaint filed by one party and the other party files an answer agreeing to everything, or by default where one party files a complaint and serves it to the other but the other party ignores it, resulting in consent by silence.
