I sometimes have people calling me, asking me off-the-wall questions like:
Can I divorce my spouse if my spouse has halitosis?
Can I divorce my spouse if my spouse got fat?
Can I divorce my spouse if my spouse started yelling at me?
Can I divorce my spouse if my spouse wants to get a sex exchange?
The answer to all those questions and many other questions is: "yes," if you believe that that creates irreconcilable differences.
The standard is: if you have irreconcilable differences with your spouse, that is all the court needs to know. They don't need to know anything else besides "I don't want to be married with that person anymore and we're not gonna be able to make it work in the future, so we gotta separate and go our different ways and divide our property and our children and our debts."
